Winter sports & winter holidays

Ski hire, ski passes, ski lessons, the ski room, winter tyres and snow chains.

12 questions

Where can I hire skis, snowboards and other winter sports gear?

There are several good hire shops in Scuol. The easiest for Motta Naluns is Sport Heinrich, right by the valley station of the lifts. You can hire winter sports gear there and reserve it in advance if you like. Jon Sport in Scuol also hires out winter sports gear.

How do I buy a ski pass for Motta Naluns?

You can buy your ski pass online in advance from Bergbahnen Scuol. Tickets can be loaded onto an existing KeyCard or SwissPass. If you don’t have a KeyCard yet, you can add one when you buy online and pick it up on arrival. For current prices and conditions, we always refer you to the official website.

Where can I find information about the Motta Naluns ski area?

Motta Naluns is the ski area near Scuol, with slopes for different levels. On the official Bergbahnen Scuol website you’ll find up-to-date information on slopes, lifts, snow conditions, opening times and prices.

How do I get from La Randulina to Motta Naluns?

From Ramosch you can get to Scuol by car or public transport. The bus takes you to Scuol-Tarasp; the Motta Naluns valley station is close by. So a winter holiday with us works well without using the car every day.

Can I book ski lessons in advance?

Yes. The Schweizer Ski- & Snowboardschule Scuol-Ftan offers lessons for children and adults, from beginner to advanced. Especially during the school holidays, we recommend booking lessons in advance.

Do I need a car in winter?

No. From Ramosch you can easily travel by public transport towards Scuol and other places in the Unterengadin. The regional guest card is included in your stay, and it covers bus and train in the region. A car is handy for trips further afield, but not necessary for Motta Naluns.

There is no general legal requirement for winter tyres in Switzerland. Your vehicle must, however, be suitable for the conditions and safe to drive. For a winter stay in Ramosch, we strongly recommend good winter tyres.

What can we do if not everyone wants to ski?

That’s actually one of the strengths of a winter holiday in the Unterengadin. Besides skiing, you can go winter walking, sledging, snowshoeing or skating on the Eisweg Engadin in Sur En. That way everyone can plan their own day, and later you all come back together in Ramosch.
